The Division of Statewide Interoperability (DSI) is lead by the Statewide Interoperability Coordinator (SWIC). The primary funtion of DSI is to plan and implement the statewide interoperability program, guided by initiatives outlined in the National Emergency Communications Plan (NECP) and Statewide Communications Interoperability Plan (SCIP). The SWIC is a member of the National Council of Statewide Interoperability Coordinators (NCSWIC), a national governance body established to assist interoperability coordinators with promoting the critical importance of interoperable communications and best practices within their states and nationally.

Illinois will have a continuing and sustainable emergency communications environment in which all public safety/public service agencies will be able to seamlessly communicate across disciplines and jurisdictions when necessary and appropriate.
