Multi-Hazard Winter Event Expected Throughout Illinois

A severe multi-hazard winter event is expected to impact the state through the weekend, bringing life-threatening cold to Northern and Central Illinois and heavy snowfall to Southern Illinois. Medical Services Provider Training

This training is designed to prepare Emergency Medical Service (EMS) and Emergency Room (ER) staff to handle patients who are or might be radiologically contaminated. Upon request, IEMa will provide in-service training to hospitals and EMS personnel in:

  • Principles of radiation
  • Patient handling procedures
  • Radiological considerations
  • Notifications and assistance
  • Hospital planning considerations for radiological event 
  • Exercise development 
  • Monitoring instrumentation and use
